Future Leaders Expedition 2011
The two winning teams set out on the 28th of March to learn about sustainability in the Arctic. This website details some of the experiences and outcomes of the trip as well as how the winning teams came to be selected.The Nottingham winning team came up with a project called New Heights which embraced social media networks such as Facebook to raise awareness about climate change.
The St Andrews winning team came up with a project called We Care which engaged young people to challenge themselves and world leaders to care more about the environment on a local and global scale. The campaign focused around an online petition that reached over seventy countries worldwide, and supported by organisations and individuals such as WWF, Greenpeace and the Sustainable Development Commissioner to Scotland.
